What is Chinese Medicine?

Chinese medicine is based on the concepts of Yin and
yang and aims to understand and treat the many ways in which the fundamental balance and harmony between the two may be undermined and the ways in which a person's Qi or vitality may be depleted or blocked. Clinical strategies are based upon diagnosis of patterns of signs and symptoms that reflect an imbalance.

However, the tradition as a whole places great emphasis on lifestyle management in order to prevent disease before it occurs. Chinese medicine recognises that health is more than just the absence of disease and it has a unique capacity to maintain and enhance our capacity for well being and happiness. Shirley offers Traditional Chinese acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, dietary therapy, massage, cupping, moxa, and gua sha.

What is Acupuncture?

It encompassed an eastern philosophy and over 2000 years of experience. The treatment helps both physical and emotional problems. The WHO recommends its use for over 40 conditions with the main areas including digestive, muscular-skeletal, gynaecological, neurological, emotional, ear, eye, nose and throat disorders as well as miscellaneous disorders such as stress, chronic fatigue and immune system tonification. These headings are vague so Shirley would be happy to discuss your specific health condition in more detail with you.
