SOMATIC AWARENESS

CHRISTIE TONKS
Psoas & Core Awareness trained by Liz Koch
Bowen Therapeutic Technique Diploma
Remedial Massage Level IV
Member of the Bowen Association U.K.
Member of the LCSP register

Christie Tonks completed a week long training with Liz Koch on psoas & core awareness in October 2008. She continued to explore how becoming acutely aware of sensations throughout the body can help to put the nervous system into a predominant parasympathetic state during 'meditation' and movement explorations. She practices thought and movement explorations frequently before work and has found that in doing so she is much calmer, doesn't crave 'treats' and is able to be rational in stressful situations.

If you would like guidance in somatic awareness you can contact Christie
at the clinic on 01274 519800
by mobile or text on 07956 292110
by email at christie@prospecthouseclinic.com
or you can visit her web site at www.busybodease.com

Christie is constantly developing her personal & professional skills.  She has completed courses in myo-fascial release with Michael Stanborough, Postural assessment & myofascial release with James Earls, Bowen Technique with Bowtech, and Core Awareness with Liz Koch. Christie is a member of the LCSP register and the Bowen Association UK. Christie recognises that there are occasions when people just want to be pampered and in order to offer a complete service she completed a hot stone massage course in December 2007.

What is somatic awarenss?

Somatic Awareness is about exploring body sensation during meditation and movement. It is the opportunity for the rational right brain to switch off and for biointelligence to guide the participant through unlimited thought patterns and movement. It is about taking the time to be quiet, 'listen' to and trust the way the body wants to move and express itself. It gives the participant the opportunity to acknowledge thoughts, memories and reflections about oneself non judgementally.

Somatic awareness can not be taught because each indivdual will experience it differently. However because people are used to suppressing sensations of pain, discomfort and negativity generally we have forgotten how to tap into how we literally feel and don't trust the body's own innate intelligence.

Somatic awareness guidance can be given to help the participant find the starting point for their own explorations during their own private time.
